HAWAII IN A BOWL

Line

So, what is Poke?

Poke is a raw fish salad served as an appetizer and sometimes as an entrée in Hawaiian cuisine. Poke is the Hawaiian verb for “section” or “to slice or cut”. The traditional Hawaiian poke consists of fish that has been gutted, skinned, and deboned. It is sliced across the backbone as fillet, and served with traditional condiments such as sea salt, candlenut, seaweed, and limu. The tasty Hawaiian appetizer is the fresh and healthy food trend everyone can’t get enough of.

If you like sushi, you will love poke bowls, it is like a free-form sushi bowl but with more interesting flavours. The addition of other ingredients like avocado, mango, pickles, edamame or salad make the poke bowl a more balanced meal than just sushi.
